Here's a lil registry hack I made for you geeks: The UNIX shell here hack. I've been using Unix Tools on my windows box, mostly cuz I'm used to the gnu tools and I think cmd.exe lacks so much compared to sh. Not to mention cmd.exe is a target most nimbda variant virus writers... So I thought "Hey, they have 'Open Command Window Here', then why not 'Unix Shell Here' ?". So here it is. Just download and unzip from the self-extracting archive, then follow the directons in the REAMD file. Yes, I know... The installation isn't just one click away, but I've sent this info to the maintainer of the installer for unix utils, so hopefully this will be integrated in with the installer.

I had recently bought and did a fresh install of windows XP on my main computer. I really wanted to keep this installation squeaky clean with just the stuff I wanted. Then I started getting these weird messenger popups on my screen, so I finally figured out how to get rid of them... sheesh... While I was at it I made sure I was free of all adware by first removing them, and then taking preventative measures. Ahhh~ what a great feeling. :)

I'm one big happy camper today... Got my 800 mhz Pentium III processor in the mail today... My previous 600mhz Celeron II was having a very difficult time playing 30 tracks of audio simultaneously in real time... So I splurged $50 on a used 800EB P3. Twice the speed of FSB and full speed L2 cache... The result? Awesome! I won't be upgrading to a P4 until I can buy a 2Ghz P4 for around $50. According to Moore's law, that should be sometime around next Spring. :)
