In the midst of all the craze trying to get caught up with everything, I'm still contemplating over which car I should get... Is it gonna be the '02 Jetta 1.8T MT or is it gonna be the '96 Honda Prelude MT .... GRRRRR... I haven't really received any real feedback on this matter, people tend to respond with totally random other cars they would buy... c'mon guys... you're not helping...

Well, the prelude is gonna be a used... so a quick check online reveals that it’s price is gonna be half that of a new Jetta. I don’t think Euro cars are "better" than Jap cars.. They handle very differently from what I can tell... I’m comparing a BMW that I got to drive with other Jap cars like Honda Accord, Lexus RX300, Mitsubishi Diamante, and Ford Mustang (which is a US car)...

I just love the handling and the breaks of the BMW and I hear is very similar on the Jetta... grr... I’ll keep your commens in mind, man. thanx!! :) (348)

Are both cars the same price? Or is the Prelude a bit cheaper?

Prelude: Was suppose to be Honda’s low cost technology showcase car. Honda’s discontinuing it, so I’m sure if you buy one now, you’ll have a pretty unique car since there won’t be any additional units produced. However, it’s a two door, which means the insurance might likely be higher than the Jetta.

Jetta: You get a new car, it’s European (seems many people hold the view that European cars are better, I myself prefer Japanese cars). The insurance might be less because of the four doors, but I’m not sure how ’turbos’ fit into the scheme. With the turbo, you might be able to swap it out with a bigger turbo perhaps? Blow-off valve? Damn I love that sound.

If it’s the same car, why not just get the Jetta, for the functionality... but if you are looking for looks and the name, I think you should go for the Honda. (347)
