It's just passed the half-way mark on my second term at Berkleemusic. I should tell you that taking two courses at a time would have to be the official limit. ;) As much as I'm anxious to learn more, I'm not going to sacrifice either my health nor the quality of learning for pure greed for knowledge. ;)

I'm really happy that I'm learning so much with the harmonic ear training course. Roberta, our professor, is absolutely top notch, and with the course being as difficult as it is, I don't think I'd have been able to survive thus far without her. I'm also getting some decent factual data about the music industry with the future of music business course as well. One of the textbooks for the class titled The Future of Ideas by Lawrence Lessig is actually quite good. It talks about his projections on what the future holds for us from his research into distribution, copyright, and the commons in general as effected by the age of the internet. Nothing ground-breaking, but interesting nonetheless.

However..... all this theory seems to be making me take music a lil too seriously for my own good, so I was delighted to have found out about this interesting remix contest, which I'm quite psyched to be able to work on. The original (not the original original, but the new original) already has an interesting story behind its production, so if they're actually trying to gather tracks to release a remix compilation of the album, this would be quite interesting to see how it spins out.

Ah... never a dull moment. :)
