This sucks... I just got an estimate from the repair shop for my mixer, and they say the cross-fader knob is not covered in the warranty since it's a cosmetic problem. What?? Cosmetic?? Do they even understand how important the knob is?? How can they consider that cosmetic ??? Dammit... friggin' $11 for a damn knob...

Well, I've been slacking a little bit on this area recently... primarily because my damned mixer is in for repair... It won't be for another week or so until I get it back and start spinning again. But when I do get it back, I'll be finishing up my mixtape.. fingers crossed

so I just received the pioneer cdj-1000 promotion video tape from pioneer. To be honest, I wasn't too impressed with the presentation. The guys weren't very good presenters. =) I don't think that really matters, but I just had to say... well, they're DJs not actors. =) I think the video answers a lot of the questions DJs have, but for some reason, I'm still not sure how comfortable vinyl jocks will be using it... I guess the thing that really bothers me is that the jog dial is kinda small ( I tend to scratch out AND inside the 12" depending on how much control I want, and it might not be too easy to get rid of that habit ).. and it doesn't move... sure, it's touch sensitive and you just need to focus on the middle of the jog dial which is graphical representation of the cd that actually rotates to emulate vinyl rotation .... So there's no force that tries to rotate the platter in the opposite direction when back cueing..

Roonie G basically showed pretty dubious scratches... mostly beginner to intermediate fader scratches... lots of crabs... ( the pioneer's xfader is not really that good for that by the way ) ... which further complicates matters... so I'm still not sold... I'll just need to try it out myself. If I sold both of my CDJ-700s' I suppose I could buy ONE CDJ-1000... I really wish they had hired somebody who's EVEN better than Roonie G at scratching to show off some stuff...
